Manual chapter for first-time users: from dashboard to first export.

Welcome to Glimmer & Stitch Pattern Maker.

This chapter helps you create your first pattern confidently.

Quick start

  1. Open your dashboard.
  2. Choose to create a new pattern.
  3. Upload your photo.
  4. Adjust image and settings.
  5. Process and review.
  6. Save and export.

Choosing a good source photo

  • Use a clear image with good lighting.
  • Avoid very blurry images.
  • For portraits, choose photos with strong contrast in face details.
  • Crop away distracting background elements before processing.

First settings to use

If you are unsure, start with these practical defaults:

  • Maximum colours: around 30 to 50.
  • Dithering: try default first.
  • Keep aspect ratio enabled when adjusting size.

You can always re-import and compare results.

What to do after processing

  • Check if important details are visible.
  • If the pattern feels noisy, reduce colours.
  • If details are missing, increase colours a little.
  • Save before exporting.
